FCU CHALLENGE FROM DAY 28 TO DAY 30 : BUILD A HOUSE IN 30 DAYS

 MY HOMESCHOOLING JOURNAL

DAY 28 :
19 OCTOBER, 2010

It was a hot day. We were nearly at the end of the 30 days and the house was still
under construction. My brother was working on the bath tub.

Actually it was not that hard to make a wall. You just need some
 patience and hard work.

This bath tab still need lots of touch up.

I love lotus. I loved its smell and never miss to smell the sweetness of lotus when it opened wide like this. At least...after a day of hard work, lotus relief my tension.

DAY 29 :
20 OCTOBER, 2010

On day 29, I felt so proud of what FCU had achieved even though we were not really success in this 30 days challenge. We managed to build all the walls and the floor. Since we are going to build a double storey house, the roof will be very different from the ordinary house. It must be a very strong and stable flat roof in order to support the weight of another floor.

In the morning....early sunlight shone into my garden. Rays of sparkling sunlight shone through leaves of bonsai, passing the pillarsand catching the surface of the water in the pond. Making all the
fishes and the tortoises wonder in what paradise they were living. Ah!! All these wonderful things from
Allah makes my heart feel happy and energetic. Thank You..Thank You...!!

At last, rows of bricks were attached by cement to form a wall.

It was time for late night work. We need extra time
to deal with the second floor of the house.

You better looked properly bro....Was the light
bright enough for you to make sure the bricks were
in a straight line?

Give a credit to all of them. A long working hours could be very tiring and they seemed to enjoy every                                                                                          second of it.

DAY 30 :
21 OCTOBER, 2010.

High up in the sky.....

The moon was shining very brightly......make the night so beautiful and perfect with the glittering stars

You must be very stable up there especially during night time
since the width of the brick. was just as big as your feet

I could say that both of them can be a sky walker after building the house session.
Take care, bro !!

FCU CHALLENGE FROM DAY 25 TO DAY 27 : BUILD A HOUSE IN 30 DAYS

M0Y HOMESCHOOLING JOURNAL

DAY 25:
16 OCTOBER, 2010.

Skinning the rubber tree logs really took time and in order to finish all of them, everybody had to sleep late last night. What the hell these rubber tree logs were doing in this house project? Yes..We are going to build a
creative house that use these rubber logs as the material of the wall.

Lets view some of the sample of the house:

Hundred percent of cord  wood wall. It seemed that the cost of  building the house was not that high. We have lots of good wood in Malaysia. For this cordhouse house, we do not need a strong wood like Jati, Meranti or so on.
How creative !! This is a good way to keep your firewood in front of your house so that it doesn't look messy.

Concrete being used with the cord wood to form a wall. We are going to build this kind of house. Since the ground around our village is not safe from termite invasion, we are only use this cord wood wall for first floor.  The ground floor is made from  bricks only.

Yes, that's it. As I had mentioned before, we had changed our plan from building a simple house to a creative modern house. How about our challenge building the house in 30 days? Well...we kept on working to achieve it.

A pile of clean rubber tree logs were piled at one corner of the site project.

Its time to open the form works of the pillars.

All the pillars were perfectly done.

My brother was coating the pillars with the fine wire (dawai mata punai). The next stage was to make a wall of the house. This fine wire would grip the cement perfectly.

I was really expert in mixing cement.

Oops...It wasn't that easy. I used all my strength to start the machine.

DAY 26 :
17 OCTOBER, 2010.

Early in the morning, we started with the wall. Hopefully the weather would be fine.

Still working with the wall. Every bricks must be really  straight and perpendicular to the pillar.

You must be very careful and tidy when arranged the bricks together.

Half way to finish the wall.

Wow!! Really lots of them. We could make a table and chair set for our garden.

DAY  27 :
18 OCTOBER, 2010.

On top of all....unity was very important. Never missed our routine!!

Everybody was so focused when the manager director gave orders of the day.

I was a  cement boy. Grinding it, mixing it and apply it were my specialty.

Made a hole for a toilet pipe.
Still with the wall. We would take quite a long time with the wall.

What he was doing?  O..o..o he tried to estimate the length of bath tub. I loved spending my time in bath tub while listening to music.

FCU CHALLENGE FROM DAY 22 TO DAY 24 : BUILD A HOUSE IN 30 DAYS

MY HOMESCHOOLING JOURNAL

DAY 22 :
13 OCTOBER, 2010.

It was time to put cement into the form work of the pillars. You had to climb the ladder with a pail of cement before poured it into the form work. Huh...what a hard work. Just imagined....there were many pillars to fill up.

To arrange the iron rods on the floor just like a chess board, wasn't easy...
At last..... managed to cover all the floor.

DAY 23 :
14 OCTOBER, 2010.

A routine....early in the morning just before started doing our task.

We moved to the next step....putting the cement on the floor.

Need a steady hand to smooth the cement.

Suddenly.... a heavy rain watered our village and filled up the site. What a mess !! The concrete still soft and the rain spoiled it. The weather was bad for the last few weeks. Really....it slowed our project !!
By the end of the day....we managed to put the concrete all over the floor. Thanks to Allah...
On the same day...I followed my father to sea side, searching for dead mangrove trees. We were going to use them in our house project....building a creative smart house.

There were many of dead mangrove trunks on the beach.

My father was cutting the mangrove tree into smaller pieces.

DAY 24 :

15 OCTOBER, 2010.

On our way to rubber three farm.

We were lucky to find lots of rubber tree at the farm. In fact, the price also very cheap.

Everything needed to be measure.

In order to get a good rubber trunk, we needed to do extra work. I hoped there was no snake inside that big pile.
Be careful my brothers....the saw was very sharp.

Alhamdullillah, at last we managed to cut lots of big trunks. All these wood were for the wall of our house

We used lorry to bring all the trunks back home.

We worked until mid night to remove the bark of the rubber .
