BALANCING EGGS DURING THE FULL LUNAR ECLIPSE 2011

I have been waiting to do this for age. For me, anything that has a connection with the outer space is really overwhelming. In my mind, it is impossible to balance an oval shape object especially an egg which has the white egg and the yolk that keep on moving even with a small vibration. I never try to do that on any other day...except just waiting for the perfect day that was on 10 Dec of  2011.

As an evidence, I found a blog showing  a group of USM students (University Science Malaysia ) tries to balance an egg during lunar eclipse at moonrise 2007.

Out of the five eggs tested, four eggs stood on their ends during the eclipse.
Wong Soon Aik, 22, an applied physics USM student, was by far the most successful at standing an egg on its end.

Anyhow, Astronomy Club of Universiti Sains Malaysia advisor Dr Chong Hon Yew however, denied the eclipse played a part in the egg-standing experiment. “Some believe that there is a change in gravity during an eclipse, but so far, there hasn’t been any solid scientific evidence,” he said. He, however, admitted though that he frequently joined people all around the world in testing the traditional egg balancing belief during lunar eclipses.

EXPERIMENT DURING THE LUNAR ECLIPSE:

Maximum eclipse:                2011 Dec 10  22:31:36

This experiment was done during the maximum eclipse. I arranged 3 eggs on the cement floor, hoping that the eggs would get the maximum effect since they were direct under the sky where the moon was in eclipse stage. My brother said that I should tried on a very flat surface on that special night because it effect the stability of the eggs. Yes...he is right!!! Science experiments need accuracy.

BELEIVE IT OR NOT??

Is it true that we can  only do this act during the lunar eclipse and on the equinox? An equinox in astronomy is that moment in time (not a whole day) when the center of the Sun can be observed to be directly above the Earth's equator, occurring around March 20 and September 23 each year.

EXPERIMENT AFTER LUNAR ECLIPSE

This experiment was carried out by my brother to  prove that the above ideas were not correct.

Actually the egg indeed does  balance before or after the eclipse and at the equinox ( just any time of the year). In other words, people is only waiting until the eclipse and the equinox to do the experiment because they believe in the effect of moon's gravity and sun's gravity . They never try to balance the egg in other time. It happens that they manage to stand the egg on its end on that particular days (with the God will of course...). And...it is how the believe starts to become world wide.

My brother and me just prove that you also can do it.
You just need to practice to balance the egg.
